What is in-home massage for older adults?

CasaBliss in-home massage for older adults is designed to create a calm, comfortable, and genuinely caring experience—both for the person receiving the massage and for the family members or caregivers supporting them. A Florida-licensed massage therapist arrives prepared with a professional table, fresh linens, and everything needed for the visit. Before beginning, we listen carefully to comfort needs, mobility considerations, pressure preferences, and areas to avoid. The session is then adapted through the techniques, pressure, pace, and positioning most appropriate for that individual. Every visit is guided by respect, compassion, consent, and thoughtful attention, helping the person feel supported and giving families greater confidence in the care experience.

Why home

The comfort of home changes the experience

For many older adults, the most tiring part of an appointment is everything around it — traveling, parking, waiting, and adjusting to an unfamiliar place. Bringing the session home removes much of that stress.

  1. No driving, no parking

No traffic, no spa parking lot, no navigating an unfamiliar building. The therapist comes to your door.

  2. Your own environment

Familiar surroundings make it easier to truly settle in — your temperature, your lighting, your music or your silence.

  3. Real privacy

No shared lobbies or locker rooms. The only people present are the ones you choose.

  4. Family can be nearby

A spouse, adult child, or caregiver can stay in the home — or in the room — throughout the session.

These sessions tend to suit people who value privacy and one-on-one attention, anyone who finds traveling to appointments tiring, and anyone who feels uneasy in unfamiliar or rushed settings.

“Rest begins the moment the session ends — you are already home.”

Personalized care

A session adapted to the person, not a script

Whether you prefer gentle pressure, live with recurring muscle tension, or need adapted positioning for comfort or mobility, your therapist asks first and shapes the session around your answers.

Pressure

Pressure starts comfortable and adapts to you. Your therapist checks in as they work, and you can ask for lighter or firmer pressure at any moment — including which areas get attention and which stay off-limits.

Positioning & cushioning

Extra bolsters and careful positioning — including side-lying — keep joints, hips, and shoulders supported and comfortable.

Pacing

Slow, deliberate movements with no rush. Getting settled, turning over, and finishing all happen at your own speed.

Communication

You can talk, stay quiet, pause, or stop at any point. Check-ins are how we work — nothing about the session is locked in once it starts.

You remain in control throughout the session. Pressure, positioning, and areas of focus can be changed or stopped at any time.

“Check-ins, not assumptions.”

Safety & standards

Careful hands — and standards you can verify

When to pause

Good care also means knowing when not to proceed. Massage is a wellness service, not a substitute for medical care. Some situations call for postponing a session or speaking with a healthcare professional before booking:

  • Active fever or acute illness
  • Open wounds or an active skin infection
  • A suspected blood clot (DVT) — do not proceed with massage. Seek medical evaluation first.
  • Recent surgery without your provider's clearance
  • New, acute, or unexplained pain that hasn't been evaluated
  • Any restriction given by your licensed healthcare professional

Please share relevant conditions, medications, and restrictions when booking — it helps your therapist adapt the session safely. When in doubt, speak with your healthcare professional before booking.

Individual experiences vary. Massage may support comfort and relaxation as part of an overall wellbeing routine.

“A session should lower the volume of the day — quiet, unhurried, and entirely yours. Real therapeutic work for the tension your body carries, as a routine you keep in the place where you feel most at ease — home.”

Questions clients and families ask us

Is massage safe for older adults?

Massage is generally well tolerated by older adults when the pressure, pacing, and positioning are adapted — which is exactly how these sessions are designed. That said, massage is not medical care, and certain conditions call for a healthcare professional's guidance first. If there's a specific diagnosis or concern, check with a doctor before booking.

Can the session be adjusted for limited mobility?

Yes. Therapists adapt positioning, use extra cushioning and side-lying setups, and take as much time as needed for getting on and off the table. Mention mobility considerations when booking so the therapist arrives prepared.

Is the massage done on a table, a chair, or a bed?

Sessions are performed on the professional massage table the therapist brings, set to a comfortable height. If getting onto a table is difficult, the therapist will accommodate the client's needs and adapt the setup.

Can a caregiver or family member stay during the session?

Of course. One advantage of an in-home session is that a spouse, adult child, or caregiver can remain in the home — or in the same room — the entire time.

Can I book a massage for my parent or another loved one?

Yes. Complete the regular online booking using the recipient's name, phone number, and address — the details of the person who will receive the session — and pay the deposit yourself. The booking is simply made in their name.

Can we request the same therapist every time?

Active CasaBliss members can rebook a therapist who has treated them before, whenever that therapist is available — they appear in the My Therapists section of the member profile. For a first session, the system matches you with a suitable available professional for your location, service, and schedule. We prioritize continuity, but availability can vary.

What does the therapist bring?

Everything: a professional massage table, fresh linens, and oils. You only need a quiet, clear area of approximately 12×12 ft (3.7×3.7 m) — enough room for the table and for the therapist to work comfortably around it.

How much pressure will the therapist use?

As much or as little as feels right. Pressure starts comfortable and is adapted to you, and the therapist checks in as they work. You can ask for a change at any moment — that's expected, not an inconvenience.

When should a massage be postponed?

With an active fever or acute illness, open wounds or a skin infection, a suspected blood clot (do not go ahead — seek medical evaluation first), or after a recent surgery without your provider's clearance. When in doubt, speak with your healthcare professional before booking — postponing is always the right call.

How often can an older adult receive massage?

There's no single right schedule — it depends on comfort, goals, and how the body responds. Massage can be as often as every day when it feels right and is well tolerated; weekly or every-other-week rhythms are common. Your therapist can suggest a cadence after the first session, and memberships make a recurring routine simpler if it becomes a habit.

Which Miami areas do you serve?

CasaBliss serves many areas across Greater Miami — including Miami Beach, Brickell, Coral Gables, Doral, Aventura, and Sunny Isles — and coverage grows with our therapist network. Check your neighborhood or ZIP on the service areas page, or confirm while booking.

How does the $50 deposit work?

It secures your time and is applied toward your session total. It's fully refundable if you cancel 24 hours or more before the session. Between 12 and 24 hours before, it becomes a Session Credit valid for 90 days. Under 12 hours or a no-show, the deposit is non-refundable.

In Memory of Richard

Every time I arrived at Richard’s home, I tried to enter with the best energy I could bring.

“Hellooo…” was how I announced that I was there. It let everyone in the home know I had arrived, but it also brought a little warmth and lightness into the room.

Richard would answer with his own surprised “Hi!”—sometimes in a slightly different tone, sometimes with another warm expression that made it clear he was happy to see me.

That exchange became our ritual: my arrival and his welcome. It was the beginning of the time we would share together.

Richard taught me that caring for an older adult is not only about physical comfort. It is about arriving with presence, listening closely, noticing the quiet details, respecting the person’s space and story, and bringing kindness into the home without asking them to become someone different.

What I learned with Richard continues to shape the way I care for every older adult and the way CasaBliss supports the families who trust us with someone they love.

This page is dedicated to Richard, and to every older adult who deserves to feel expected, welcomed, valued, and genuinely accompanied.

“Hellooo…”

“Hi!”

Thank you for always welcoming me, Richard—and for everything you taught me.

That same warmth lives on in every thoughtful session we bring into the home.

Thoughtful care can begin at home.

One gentle session, adapted to the person receiving it — no driving, no waiting rooms, no rush.
